Going YESSS, YAMAN with my 4 Pre-Loved Items!!

yesyaman

If you’re one of my frequent readers here, you’re probably aware of my hoarding tendencies. Now let me share three more things that I’m guilty of: 1. I’m a sentimentalist, 2. I get attached to things quite easily, 3. I may have separation anxiety issues. Mixing all of those, you can probably guess what my room looks like right now (if not, clue: it’s not minimalist. lol) and probably utter this phrase: YESSS, YAMAN! only because of how much stuff I have collected over the years.

It’s hard for me to let things go, even if I’m not using them as often as I’d like to (or at all), especially when it’s something I saved up really hard for or something given to my by someone special. I would always justify keeping them by telling myself that I might need them again one day or that they may really have a future value. But I can’t deny the fact that most of the times, if not all, they sit around someone around my room collecting dusts (well, not really because I keep them in their original boxes/case, but you get what I mean).

What really keeps me from filling up my room is my mom. Whenever she goes home here in the Philippines, she would tell us to “clean” everything, or she would do it herself. And by “clean” she means “throw away”. LOL. And it’s helpful, actually. It’s like someone’s making you evaluate everything you’re holding on to and whether it’s really worth it. And most of the times she wins, haha, I guess I just get so guilty that I would finally let go of some things. To my mom, keeping and letting go of things is easy, “if you don’t need it, or if you haven’t used it for a long time, throw it away!” Sometimes I would follow her advice but not without cringing and reminiscing how much I spent on that or how special the person who gave that thing to me is.

But thanks to OLX Philippines, I have a new and better solution to my hoarding/separation anxiety issues! Throwing away things always seemed harsh for me, it’s as if you’re throwing away the memories attached to those stuff too. But giving them to others who will value them the way that you do, feels like extending the “life” of those things. That’s why OLX’s tagline–“ang di mo na ginagamit, ibenta mo na!–sounds like the perfect solution to me!

Honestly, I’ve been a member of OLX (Sulit.com then) for years now and I’ve had successful transactions buying and selling items. It is probably the easiest and most hassle-free way and platform for buying and selling second-hand items.

So this month, I was actually re-evaluating everything in my “collection” and have finally decided to sell some of them. Yes, they are the ones in the pictures above. So now let me tell you a quick description of each of my pre-loved items.

This wallet is only more than couple months old, bought it early this year. It great but I bought a new wallet which I’m currently using now. This one’s good as new!

This used to be one of my favorite shades. I believe I bought this on my birthday some years ago. However, I’m not really using it for quite some time now because I always have to wear my prescription glasses. This is still in very good condition and I still have the cases to keep it protected.

This one has a big sentimental value for me because this is the phone that I bought using my earnings from my first job ever! I’ve had a couple of new phones after this one but I was having a hard time letting go of it because of the sentimental value and for the fact that it’s still working fine. This is the Nokia C3, the first budget QWERTY cellphone if I’m not mistaken.

And finally, my favorite of all four! This Canon PowerShot A480 digital camera was a birthday gift from my boyfriend some years ago. I had a very good relationship with this camera and it has been my best friend for a long time, heee. However, I’m using a newer camera now and I’m actually ashamed to admit that I’m neglecting this baby now. I still love it though because it has a very nice super-macro feature; it actually takes a pretty decent image; and the images come out better than with what I’m currently using. I actually don’t want to let go of it yet because of the sentimental value of it and because I still keep coming back to it every now and then. But my boyfriend and I agreed that perhaps it’s about time to find a new parent/s for this baby.

So yeah, now that I’ve mustered up the courage to say goodbye to these four pre-loved items, it’s time to go look for their new owners who will, hopefully, take care of them too. ^_^

I have a tendency to hoard, too! And my mom is always quick to point out when I have to “clean up” haha. Sometimes I give stuff away especially clothing, but with gadgets I like to sell them and my go to spot for that is sulit, too. 🙂
