Happy hump day, everyone! I hope all is well. Before I tell you about this event, I just want to share some updates about my life; because we all know that is very important. HAHA! Kidding aside, I am still nursing a nasty cold and flu (Ha! The cold finally bothered me) thus the lack of blog posts. Also, I have a new project (Yay!) which has been keeping me real busy. And whatever time and energy I have left, I spend on reading books, which I totally love by the way.
Speaking of books (not that LIS is just about books), I want to share this event to all of you, curious cats. This is an annual event organized by my former student organization–UP Library and Information Science Students’ Association (UP LISSA). We started organizing this event way back in 2009 and this year is the 7th LIS Congress. Wow, guys, good job!
This is for everyone, even those outside the field. LIS is about information, no matter the form; and we all need information, yes? If you’re an LIS student or an LIS professional, you shouldn’t miss this. If you’re a non-LIS student/professional, you’ll still benefit from this event. This is the right venue to feed your curiosity and learn something new. Invite your friends, classmates, professors, librarians, staff members, and register now; besides, the registration fee is very minimal!
Sorry for my babbling, here’s the important deets about the event. Hope to see you there!
The Library and Information Science Congress is an annual event that focuses on the current issues of libraries and librarianship as it affects LIS students and professionals. It is also a place for them to network and share their ideas for the betterment of the profession.
This year’s LIS Congress shall focus on the role of Information Age phenomena and its digital innovations in today’s libraries. With this year’s theme, LIB RECONNECT: From Shelf to Web, we’ve invited the most prominent LIS professionals to discuss the importance and roles of libraries in the Information and Digital Age, innovations in the field of librarianship to cope with the digital age, and how libraries make use of social media to their advantage. This event will be held on February 09, 2015 at the 5th Floor of Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila University.
